Monchique is located about 15 kilometers inland in the Algarve. It is one of the highest villages in the mountains of the Algarve and known for, its natural source and wellness, among other things. Caldas de Monchique is close to this village and is where the Romans discovered the healing spring water from the mountains. This comes out of the mountain at a temperature between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius. It is said that this water is very healthy for the body. The central town square is has a great atmosphere and a place to relax for a moment or to enjoy a drink and a snack.
The highest point is Fóia and is a stone's throw from Monchique. From this point you have a magnificent view of the entire south coast of the Algarve and the ocean.
